Ellie bug at 17 months

17 months
Our little Ellie bug is now 17 months old.  She has become so much more fun this month (not that you haven’t always been Ellie), as she develops her own little personality and learns to communicate more with words and signs.
Silly girl
Ellie says/tries to say “mama”, “dada”, “dog”, “cat”, “back”, “uh oh” and "buh bye".  She also signs, please, thank you, more, all done, and help.  She knows where her belly, nose and toes are.  She loves waving hi and bye and blowing kisses.  This girls also gives a mean high five!
Her poor little chin ... so broke out
We also had tubes put in, a day before her 17th month birthday.  It seems as though it is a requirement for Roberts children, as K had tubes at about that age as well.  It was time for tubes, as Ellie has had 8 ear infections since last Christmas, which is well beyond the cut-off.  However, she had two sets of three infections back to back so they were unsure if they were separate or persistent.  They wanted her to have one more {after the six} before an ENT referral.  We took her in last month for a rash on her face and diaper rash, which ended up being a staph infection {eek!!} and discovered she had a double ear infection.  Upon the ear re-check, the right ear was still infected which earned us a golden ticket to see Dr. Beach at Northside ENT.  He is awesome!  He performed the surgery and said she did great.  This Mama however worries, a lot!  The surgery itself doesn’t concern me, as I think it is because I trust Dr. Beach so much and with K it worked wonders.  The anesthesia is what scares me.  Jared says I am crazy as anesthesiologists go to school for so long!  After about a 10 minute surgery and about an hour, our Ellie bug was awake and back to her normal, crazy self!
Anything you can do, I can do better
Fearless cowgirl
Too big for her britches
Pumpkin guts have nothing on this girl
Ellie still proves to be quite the little free-spirit dare-devil.  She has NO fear and loves to walk on the edge of the couch, climb up the stool and jump to the couch.
Such love
Blanket fort
Scrub a dub dub
Push pops
She has gotten quite good (with the aide of big sis) to go down the stairs backwards, on her belly.  This gives me such relief to feel like I can trust her more with the stairs, both up and down now.
The one thing Ellie has discovered this month and LOVES is the rocking horse.  If given the opportunity, she pushes it to wherever there are people, climbs on, pushes the song button, and rocks away.  She loves this thing!
Reading away
Snacks and books with sis
Perplexed
Doesn't everyone read with an apron on?
This month we have taken a keen interest in books {finally}!!  Ellie will sit for some books and loves to look at them herself, turn the pages, push the buttons for the ones that make noise, and carries them everywhere.

Circle time with friends and Ms. Tabitha
Elliana has been doing so well with school and seems to get along great with her classmates.  The incident reports have stopped {now that I just jinxed myself}.  Drop off’s are hit or miss whether there are tears or not.  Most days she does great as long as someone is there to play and she has her blankie.  Which speaking of which, she is another blanket kid, just like sis.  She loves her blankets.  Unlike sis, it doesn’t matter which one, just as long as she has one of her Aden+Anais blankets, she is good to go.
Giggles
Smiling
Pretty girl
Belly laugh
Loves outside
Love that toothy grin
Ellie bug loves brushing her teeth and usually pitches a fit if you take the toothbrush away without it being her idea.  You have to limit her on toothpaste too.  I guess there are worse problems to have.  She visited the dentist in September for the first time and did great.
Her hair is longer than sis's
We {mainly I} have not cut her hair yet.  It is just too cute, but is a pain when we don’t give her a Pebbles pigtail as it is shaggy and hangs in her eyes.  Her hair is as long, if not longer than K’s at this point.  It is such a different texture from K’s too.  I always think it’s funny that K is just like me with Jared’s hair and Ellie is so much like Jared with my hair.
Little lamb
Little Bo Peep sheparding
Cannot not touch her sister
Wasn't so sure about this dressing up thing yet
Ellie seemed to thoroughly enjoy her second Halloween, and first true year of dressing up.  She didn't really go trick-or-treating as it was kind of cold and really windy.  We were on the edge of tubes so she stayed and helped Daddy pass out candy.  She was not a fan of her lamb costume, especially the hat portion, at first, but quickly seemed to not mind it.  She was cute.  It was nice to be able to "re-use" a costume but have her and K have a theme.  We'll see if that ever happens again!
