Kherington Lately {34 months}

Such a little girl now
This month has literally flown by.  We had some much needed down time during Christmas into the new year.  Then we headed back to reality {"Mama?  What's ree-al-ity?"}.

Kherington {and the rest of the family} had a wonderful Christmas and was so much fun this year in these regards.  We introduced Elf on the Shelf this year.  Once I had ordered her, I asked K if she would like an elf to come to our house.  Luckily, she said yes and decided her name would be "Sparkle" which she pronounced "Parkle."  Personally, I think she should always be "Parkle" because how cute is that?
Patiently waiting
Digging in
Unlike her face shows, she was excited about her design your own tutu

Helping LuLu open her present
Grandma made K a new blanket, which she loves
Helping Ellie open her presents
Pulling out Ellie's new blanket
And then she decided to help Aunt Jess too
Similarly to when we visited Santa, K was not the biggest fan of Grandpa Arnold.  I think she would have been fine, except when Brad wheeled Grandpa Arnold into Mamaw and Papaw's, he took his fingers and signaled "I'm watching you" to K, but didn't say anything.  She flipped out!  No one else saw this and wondered why she lost it.  She slowly warmed up, but took some time.  She mentioned that she didn't like his beard.  That may be the link between Santa and Grandpa Arnold.

She was intent on getting to business

Grandpa Arnold couldn't handle the excitement and fell asleep

Jared and I decided that "Santa" should bring Kherington a dollhouse this year.  This was truly a tough decision for a couple of reasons.  We don't have cable, so she doesn't watch cartoon channels with commercials of toys upon toys to say "ooo, I want this or that" and she is at a kind of tough in-between age I feel like.  Too big for baby toys {although she has played more with Ellie's alphabet train, then she has} and too little for big girl toys.  She has loved her dollhouse, but really only wants to play if someone is playing with her.  The good news is though, it should last her and Ellie many years of play.  The toy she liked best was her bouncy horse, a giant ride-on bouncy ball with a fabric horse piece over top.  She has had so much fun bouncing and has done a great job, better then I gave her credit for.
She loves for Ellie to play with her
This was just before she tried to change Ellie's diaper by herself
Such an example of personalities
"Kherington make sure your sister doesn't fall over"
Such a little teacher "reading" to Ellie
Ellie wanted to read herself
Focusing now just before starting to scream
Blurry family picture

K and Ellie still love each other.  It still amazes me that no matter how upset Ellie is, K can snap her out of it.  I loved the evening we were upstairs playing and K wanted Ellie to play in her tent.  She wanted to bring in her princess books from Mr. Mike.  She said, "I not hit her. So terrible. Have to go to doctor."  Love her thoughtfulness!
This tiny girl can put away some serious donuts
Snack time with friends
"Why are you taking pictures of me eating?"
Loving her Elsa and Anna plate
I am pretty sure she has been gearing up for a growth spurt.  I haven't measured her or weighed her, but she eats us out of house and home some days.  A couple of weeks ago, Jared called me on a Friday night as I was packing up my things to head home.  He had picked up the girls and told me that K had requested McDonald's and then requested that we eat there.  A first for her in regards to eating there and only the 3rd or 4th time to have McDonald's.  The good news is McDonald's is not very busy on a Friday night.

I was really proud of Kherington with Madie and Marie's birthday parties this past month.  With all of the present opening that occurred with Christmas, I gave her a heads up that these were Madie's presents
Blurry picture of the Happy New Year celebrations - two hours early
It is tough being her
New Year's was a wonderful afternoon/evening spent with the Lehman's and the Silbury Hill Way crew.  K had a lot of fun and partied hard until 10, when Mama was tired and took both girls home.
Mara and K playing dollhouse
These two are so cute together and even kind of matched
We met up with Mara for lunch and a play date after K's ear re-check. Jill, Mara's mom had a couple of errands to run, so Mara came back and played.  Her and K did really well together.  K was really cute when she was protective of Ellie.  Her and Mara were playing Playdoh and all of a sudden, K yelled, "Mama!  Mara trying give Ellie Playdoh!"  I had to explain that I appreciated Mara sharing buy Ellie is too little for Playdoh.  Oh the things you learn when having a sibling and being a rule follower! :)
Directing Nana
Snacking with Nana and Mr. Mike
Pops showing K how to wrap up Christmas lights
K {and Elliana} are so blessed with their grandparents.  This month, Ellie and K got to stay at Grandma and Pops while Mama visited San Antonio in preparation for the national sales meeting there in February and Daddy was in Fort Wayne.  They were apparently good, although I am not sure we would hear differently.  And I know they had fun for sure!
