Kherington Lately {28 months}

Cheesing for being 28 months
Outtake #1
Outtake #2
Once again, how does time go so quickly that another month {plus} has past?  Kherington continues to grow and learn each and every day.  She adds new words and phrases to her vocabulary each day, and often makes us laugh with the things she comes up with.
Singing to Ellie while Mama got diapers
She looks homeless here in her jammies checking on E
Someone needed to be right next to Aunt Jess
Kherington continues to be the best big sister a little sister could ask for.  She honestly loves Elliana and showers her with hugs and kisses throughout the days.  Often times a little too much and we have to tell her a simple peck will do and not to make out with her.  She is always concerned with Ellie is crying and wants to help by getting her paci and tries to help by putting it in.  This led to a conversation about just placing it in her mouth and letting her suck on it versus shoving it down her throat.  You can imagine the incident that led to this conversation.  Poor Ellie was gagging with a paci halfway down her throat.  Good thing babies are durable and little sisters are forgiving!
First pont tail = so grown up looking
First pigtails
Oh goodness, we are in trouble with this one
Some days we request no pig or pony tails
Can we say bed head?
Must have been a crazy night in that crib
We somehow tamed the bed head to be cute for Lisa's baby shower
Kherington's hair continues to grow and we reached a milestone this month with our first pigtail and pony tails.  She does quite well {for a two year old} of sitting still and letting me fix it.  She reminds us to "be gentle" when removing the hair ties.
Donut holes with Pops
Daddy bought her Schwan's push ups
Donut holes
I think she could have fit more in there huh?
Goober
Kherington continues to be an overall good eater.  We try and look at what she eats on a weekly basis versus daily.  Because some days it seems all she eats is a few bites and drinks her milk, which is never a problem.  And other days it is like she is going to eat us out of house and home and we tease her about having a hollow leg.  It is nice {most of the time} because she can clearly tell us what she wants or doesn't want.  If she tells you she doesn't want something, you'd better not fix it, because she is not going to eat it.  We try and give her choices, as much as possible, so she feels like she has some control.  Most of the time this works out positively for all involved.  The few times it does not leads to ugliness that I would like to pretend or forget occurs.  But she is only two, so we'll take what we can get!
Feeding Daddy
Daddy looks thrilled
Snuggling outside with Daddy
We've had an amazing summer with weather
*Heart melted into a puddle*
She has become quite the Daddy's girl this past month, for obvious reasons, but still loves her Mama. Although she has started calling me "Mommy" which really gets under my skin for some reason.  I'll respond with "I don't know a Mommy" and she'll then say "Mama."  I'm sure the Mommy thing has started because they talk about Mommy and Daddy at school, but if I have my way, I'll always be Mama.
Filling up her watering can
Then we got sidetracked and had to wash our shoes
Notice the soaked rear end
Someone hates being told they have to come back inside ... she's so abused
Kherington continues to be our little outside girl and always loves being there most.  Whether it be bubbles, chalk, riding in her Cozy Coupe, or playing in water, she loves to be outside and is always happy there.
Love this two twinkies
Watching the Sheridan parade
Neither stinker would look at me for a picture
These two had so much fun playing in the pool
Bouncing on the side
For some reason she never would get in
Tuckered out
Love her
Clay at his first 4th of July
We celebrated 4th of July this year, just as we have in the past with going to Sheridan, Indiana where Jared's family is from.  We experienced the parade {which was as exciting as ever} and then hung out at Grandpa Fred's for the rest of the day.  We had amazing weather with it only being in the 70's which was awesome for Elliana.  I was afraid beforehand that she would be too hot, but it was so nice and almost chilly that morning.
Being a stinker for pictures
This girl loves her Nana and Mr. Mike
Sporting her red and blue nails
Nana was gracious enough to share tickets with us to watch the Indianapolis Indians play baseball from the suite for her work.  We went downtown early so we could park close.  We walked along the canal.  Ellie napped in the Ergo carrier and K insisted on walking.  Which led to her getting too close to the water many times.  But she had fun looking for fish, as there were giant Koi, and ducks.  Kherington and Madie had so much fun together at the game.  Although, I think we were all tired of two toddlers going in and out the door by the end of the night.
Checking out the goats
She liked petting these guys
Watching the baby goats
Not so sure of this little heifer
Trying to climb away
Imagine her screaming as the calf licked her
Waiting to walk a llama
Daddy and K walking DJ
Daddy was thrilled
Daddy maybe has a future in llama showmanship
Obstacle course complete
K and Madie playing at the fair
Who new a lawn flag could be so much fun?
Pops and K watching them set up the pig show ring
She loves her Pops
We attended the Hamilton County 4H fair again this year.  Again we had beautiful weather, even needing jackets by the end of the evening.  Pops was able to go with us,  but unfortunately Grandma had a migraine and decided to stay home.  We are going to have to work on K if she is going to show animals, as she was not a fan when the calf licked her leg and shoe.  She did however enjoy being in the pig barn, so maybe there is hope.  She told us she wanted to walk a llama, but obviously Daddy had to help, as she was timid when it came time.
Kherington wanted to clean the floor
Love her!

Leaning tower of mixing bowls
Kherington loves to be in the kitchen with me.  She still entertains herself nicely with bowls, Tupperware, etc.  Although, sometimes she is in the way, I love watching her play with simple things and use her imagination.  Who needs child locks anyways?

"Dip of chocolate, dip of vanilla" as Aunt Jess was channelling her inner baton coach
Stickers and Grandma's lap {Gammaw yap}
What could be better?
Kherington has not really showed any jealousy towards Elliana or in regards to Ellie being around.  But she does not turn down any special attention or anytime anyone wants some one-on-one time with her.  She eats it up!

How awesome is this swing?
Just two cool girls with their matching purses
We had another awesome park date with our good friend Mara.  It was a beautiful evening.  Ellie slept the entire time.  The girls had a blast swinging, sliding, running, etc.  We fed the Mama duck and her two ducklings in the creek.  Who knew ducks liked teddy grahams?  We got a shaved ice from the the Kona Ice truck or  the "penguin truck" as K calls it, that is conveniently located in the parking lot for the park.  And then it all went down hill as we were literally ten steps away from Mama's car -  Kherington fell down and scraped her knees.  Had I not been so frustrated with the situation, I should have taken pictures to document the scrapes which led to K cry and screaming for ~3 hours as if someone had amputated both legs.  Drama queen!  The only nice thing about the situation was that she sat nicely in her chair the entire time for dinner, as she must have been convinced her legs no longer worked.  I finally convinced her to let me put Neosporin and bandaids on them to go to bed.  I was not even attempting hydrogen peroxide.  The next morning she told me "gentle Mama" as I was trying to remove the bandaids.  Where does she come up with these things?
Cheesing in the car
Circle time
These are a couple of snapshots from school this past month.  She seems to love school although she often says "no school" in the mornings.  But then you can't hardly get her to leave in the afternoons.  Silly girl!
All smiles after her first shower with Mama
Kherington still really does not enjoy baths overall.  One Saturday I decided to try and take a shower with her.  The picture above is VERY deceiving as to how that worked out.  She cried the entire time. Afterwards, I asked her if she had fun and she said "yes."  Not sure where the fun occurred.  Must have been between tear drops.  {And just for clarification, I did have a towel on in this picture.}

One thing that cracks us up the last month is that Kherington has been going to bed around 8 pm more consistently then we have ever stuck to.  This is for a variety of reasons, but we need more structure in our lives.  She says "no bed" or "no nap" a lot.  We reassure her what time it is and how much time before she has to go to bed.  Often times she cries with the most pitiful face you can imagine saying "no bed" as we {aka Mama} carries her upstairs.  She helps turn on her unicorn light projector, her sound machine and her video monitor.  Then I lay her down, we say our prayer as I tuck her little toes into "BoBo" {hooded blanket} and cover her "hands" as she requests while she's holding onto her animals and blankets.  I then lean over and kiss her goodnight, because by the grace of God she is still in her crib.  I tell her that I love her and sweet dreams princess.  Then I leave her room and close the door.  She never cries as I leave and is usually sound asleep 30 seconds later.  So strange that she worked herself up so much beforehand but doesn't actually mind going to sleep.  Love her and her silly antics.
