Kherington at 29 months

29 months
Notice Mr. Bear had to have a book too
I told her to give me silly faces
And this was another silly face
Time goes too fast these days.  Our little girl is becoming quite the little lady and learns new things every day.  She amazes us each and every day.  She often times makes us literally laugh out loud with the things she comes up with or says.  Love you punkin!

Kherington has become quite opinionated this past month on what she wants to wear.  We have embraced the wonderfully mismatched outfits, as you'll probably notice throughout this post.  She also has fallen in love with her Minnie Mouse jammies from Grandma and her awesome pink tutu.  Such a girly girl.
Who knows how many nights in a row this girl would wear this if I let her
As if the outfit was not enough, why not add a hat?
Pants apparently are optional when wearing an apron
Our little diva also loves to accessorize and has quite an opinion about how her hair should be {down, pony tail, or pig tails} and what hair bows or headbands she would like.  She also requests necklaces now too.  We are in trouble with this one.
Got my nails done
Got my hair band and my necklace
Mama made the girls a hair bow holder to try and keep it organized
She was on a kick when we spent the week at Grandma and Pops, while Daddy was out of town, about putting things on her head.  Some things were legitimate and others were quite imaginative.
Hat is legit

This cracks me up - her little purse
She reminds me of the Chiquita banana
lady for some reason
Kherington continues to be a wonderful big sister.  But I think the novelty of Elliana is starting to wear off, as she has starting testing her boundaries.  This includes but is not limited to pushing on Ellie's belly, pulling her hair, and squeezing her foot.  She is usually very quick to say "Sorry Ellie" and give her a hug once she gets caught.  I keep telling her, as I know from personal experience, that Elliana is going to catch up to her {probably} in size and will pummel her, so she better be careful.
Tummy time for both girls
Pretending to help Ellie, but I think she was checking it out for herself
Love these two
Couldn't let Ellie have Nana to herself
Had to help Daddy give Ellie a bottle
Kherington experienced two of my childhood experiences while we stayed at Grandma and Pops.  There is a local ice cream place called Polly's Freeze.  We took the girls there for lunch and ice cream.  K shared some chicken nuggets and french fries with me and then had her first ice cream cone {such a deprived child}.  This was not the most opportune time to try an ice cream cone as it was close to 90 degrees that day, it attracted lots of bugs/sweat bees {and we all know how our princess does not like bugs}.  She had a fly on her arm and started yelling "Bug ... On ... Me!!!"  Such a drama queen.  I'm glad she didn't get stung by the sweat bees as I'm sure the world would have ended.
Patiently waiting
She wanted a "pink one"
Red cheeks enjoying it before the melting started
Kherington continues to be our typical toddler when it comes to eating.  Some days she will eat you out of house and home and other days, I'm not sure she consumes enough calories.  But I know she is growing based off of her clothes and shoes, so I think we are doing okay.
Eating a popsicle with the big girls
Twins Josie and Jillian, Grandma and Pops neighbors
She does a great job drinking out of a cup
Still uses a sippy in the car though
And this girl loves her milk
This was ear #2 that evening!

Her first milk shake {again a pink one} after the state fair
Kherington enjoyed being silly with Uncle Derek while we visited at Grandma and Pops.  Although, I'm not sure which one had more fun.  They were cracking me up!  She also loves her time with Aunt Jess.  Our girls are blessed with wonderful Aunts and Uncles!

Aunt Jess must have been cold
Or maybe she needed a back adjustment

Grandma decided Kherington should catch lightning bugs.  It took us a while to catch a couple and the princess was not so sure about the bugs anyways.  She was intrigued, but not quite sure.  The first time I handed her the jar with two lightning bugs in it, she shivered as if she was disgusted.  No lightning bugs were harmed, as after she went to bed we let them go free.  I figured she might ask about them the next morning but luckily she did not.

We had a great week at Grandma and Pops while Daddy was travelling.  It was nice to have extra hands with the girls as we adjust to this awesome family of four.
Something must have been intriguing on TV
She has slightly become obsessed with Minnie Mouse
Which we cannot explain exactly, but it is cute nonetheless
Kherington was quite the little helper with Grandma during our time in Southern Indiana.  She "helped" Grandma quite a bit in the garden, but in between having a hurt toe that required no shoe wearing, the bugs, and the neighbor's kittens she was not the biggest fan.
They picked flowers
And made a flower arrangement
I'm not sure if she was helping or hindering
She was proud either way
She enjoyed helping Grandma with laundry
Grandma helped K learn how to pedal her tricycle
Such big stuff pedaling all by herself
She did a great job of pedaling by herself
She also insisted on helping watering flowers
Clearly these were empty

We also had a wonderful opportunity to visit with Mama's best friend from high school, Amanda and her adorable little guy, Benjamin.  It was great catching up.  I love having those friends that it doesn't matter how much time passes in between seeing or talking, it seems like no time at all.

Kherington had an opportunity to paint this month as a distraction from Mama working on a birthday present for Daddy.  She did a great job, which included painting her hands and forearms.  I'm pretty sure she would have continued painting other body parts had I not stopped her.  I love watching her little mind and imagination work.  And notice .... some right hand use!  There is still hope I believe!!
This canvas is fun to paint on
And so are my hands!
Kherington continues to become quite the little Daddy's girl, which is incredibly nice to have her sharing the fun and allowing Mama some time to get things done, to spend with Ellie, or to have a moment to herself every once in awhile.  My heart absolutely melts whenever I see these two together.

She is just like her Daddy in so many ways.  From sounding like an elephant when she walks {she was blessed with flat feet}, to the non-stop talking and singing.

She often times goes with Daddy to the store {aka Lowe's - we should buy stock}.  I always tell her to be a good girl for Daddy.  She always responds, "No crying.  No running."  Love her!
Play time with Daddy

Daddy's girls
Although she is becoming a Daddy's girl more and more, she still loves her Mama, which makes my heart happy.  She is my little snuggle bunny and always wants to "snuggle, downstairs" before bed.  Or she wants to sit on my "yap {lap}, one minute" before I feed Ellie.  I will miss these moments in years to come, so I try and savor each and every one of them now.
She still loves her Mama too
Kherington had so much fun at Ms. Faith's third birthday party.  It is amazing to see how Faith is doing after all she has been through.  We are so thankful that prayers have been answered and also for such great friends!
Bounce house
She saw the big kids going down face first, so she had to try
Three at a time doesn't really work
Kherington had an awesome first this month - she got to go on a boat and go fishing.  Mr. Mike and Nana took K out on Geist Reservoir near our house to go fishing.  I wasn't sure how she would do, but apparently she loved it.  She caught two fish, "yellow ones."  They were out on the water for quite a long time and she loves recounting the story to whomever will listen.  She apparently liked looking at the worms, but did not want to touch them.
This girl loves her Nana
Checking out her princess fishing pole
Figuring out how to reel in those big ones
Kherington continues to absolutely love being outside {and luckily or subsequently, I'm not sure, sis is following right in her footsteps.}  We spend a lot of time in the driveway blowing bubbles, drawing with sidewalk chalk, riding her tricycle or in her Cozy Coupe, or playing on the "new" swing/slide combo, which our neighbors were going to throw away because they wanted something for inside and this was "dirty."  We gladly will take a free toy for the girls.
Concentrating on bubbles
Sliding is so much fun!
If I had to highlight one thing that is significantly different this month it would be our lives have revolved around some little booty and a potty.  Yes, our little girl is well on her way to being potty trained.  She has done an incredibly good job.  She really likes wearing "underwear."

She declared one Saturday morning that she was going to wear underwear as we had been talking about it for a few weeks, that when she was ready to use the potty all the time she could wear them.  She did a great job that day, only having one accident when Daddy and her went to pick sweet corn at Uncle Brad's.  I think she just got a little distracted.  Because she did so well that weekend, I asked her if she'd like Mama to get her some new underwear, and she requested "purple ones" which Target {Mama's favorite} had purple Minnie Mouse ones.  Daddy was not home that night and K saw them up on the counter and insisted on wearing them, against Mama's encouraging her to wait until they were washed.  Oh well, pick your battles.  So she put on a pair of white underwear with a Minnie Mouse head on the front.  She was in the corner of living room playing with Ellie's swing while I was nursing Ellie on the couch.  All of a sudden she turns to me and starts screaming {while grabbing at her butt} "poop in there, poop in there."  I had to resist the urge to laugh, as her reaction was hilarious, and to cry, as my child had just pooped her pants and I was going to have to clean it up.  I told her to just stand there and not touch, as Ellie was still eating.  Luckily she was just about done, so I burped her for about 5 seconds before carrying her to the bathroom to help sis clean up.  Too bad they don't have potty training camp!

Her favorite phrases are "I did it" and "Fill it up" in regards to pottying.  She is always so proud of herself and we try and encourage her with exaggerated praise, although we are truly so proud of her.

Kherington still loves to help clean.  Although, sometimes she gets confused between the dust mitt and an oven mitt.  Minor details.  Love her and her help though.  No complaints for free help, especially because I know the days of complaints about helping to clean are just around the corner.

Kherington has become quite our little church girl and always does a great job of sitting relatively still {for a 2 year old}, reading books, coloring, doing stickers, and starting to participate in Mass.  She loves to "go see Jesus."   She also is doing great learning to make the sign of the cross, which melts my heart.  She did not disappoint when we had Elliana baptized this month as well.  She did a great job during Mass, only getting upset with Madie couldn't come up to communion with us, as well as afterwards with Ellie's baptismal ceremony.
Pretty girl
These two....
Crack me up
They love each other and play nicely together

We had another awesome playdate with Ms. Mara this month as well.  We live only a few miles away from an awesome little splash pad, and had never checked it out before.  K did a great job and surprised me with how well she did getting her head wet.  Maybe there is hope for her after all.
Silly girl
These two couldn't be more adorable together

We had a family outing to the zoo, as we have a membership and K loves going.  It was quite hot that day, but Kherington did a great job.  She ended up
Checking out the fish - still in the stroller, which didn't last long
Daddy and K saying hi to the orangoutang
She loves her flamingos
It was training time for the sea lions
"He's awake" {He was sleeping last time we were there}
Such a peanut compared to the walrus

So cool to watch and K is still talking about this!
She also talks about the tiger who "went swimming"
and "laid down, water"
We had a busy weekend with going to the zoo on Saturday and the State Fair on Sunday, all in one weekend.  Kherington again did a great job.  She was not so sure of all the animals, and kept saying "no hurt me."  We are going to have to work on this one if she is going to be a little 4H'er.  We still have some time.  I unfortunately failed at capturing many memories of our trip to the fair, so I apologize.  It was hot, we ate some yummy food from the Dairy Barn, avoided the Midway {as this may be our last year to get away with it}, K drank almost an entire Lemon Shake up herself, {but it kept her in the stroller, so no complaints}
A rare picture of all four of us
{Ellie is hiding in the Ergo, but trust me she's there}

Both looking so thrilled
Someone wore herself out
K has become quite better at taking a bath.  We often escape with no tears, as long as there is a dry washcloth to dry "eyes."  Proud of her!

Loves standing up in the tub despite Mama's requests to sit
Filling up a cup
Kherington got another promotion at school and has transitioned from the Helping Helicopters to the Buzy Bulldozer which is known as the "potty training room."  This is only helping our little girl to use the potty.  She wears pull-ups while at school and will soon begin wearing underwear full time.  She gets a "prize" each time she successfully uses the potty.  This is a huge motivator for her.  We are ending up with all kinds of "treasures" every day.  Whatever it takes.

We have been having lots of discussions about being nice to our friends at school.  Although, there have not been any incident reports lately {thank the Lord}, we get daily reports from our little parrot about who is being nice, who hits other people, etc.  For some reason, which we are still trying to figure out, Kherington does not like her little classmate, Matthew Bennet.  She always is talking about him.  Her teachers reported that she is nice to everyone except for Matthew.  We have daily talks now about how, even if you don't like someone, you still need to be nice to them.  She then says, "me no pinch {or hit/kick/bite} Matthew."  I do not want to have a mean girl, so we are trying to instill these qualities now.  We cannot figure this out though.  It just amazes me that at age two the human mind decides who or who not we like.  So interesting.
Must have been a game
Or maybe she was learning about being Indian? {Not PC I know}

Kherington is now taking dance/gym classes at school.  She is not quite old enough for ballet or gymnastics but we thought this would be a good way for her to try something new, get comfortable with the dance teacher, Ms. Emily, and see if its something she wants to pursue.  Although, I'm sad that I don't get to see her each week, at the same time I am thankful that she gets to try this out during school and we still have our evenings to get everything done.  They will have a recital right before Christmas.  I'm excited to see what she is doing and learning.
Our little dancer
No, not that kind of dancer K
I can't explain how happy this makes me
Love her more than life itself!
