15 months …. Some things the same, other have changed

Kherington had her 15 month check up on her 15 month birthday.  She weighed in at 21 lbs 14.4 oz (but with her clothes and tennis shoes on) and was 30 inches tall!  She was due to get her vaccines, including the MMR and chicken pox vaccine, but due to having another double ear infection, they held off on the vaccines.  This was because the chicken pox vaccine can cause a rash 7-10 days following and she was going to be prescribed an antibiotic for the ear infection {which they think has not truly cleared up since April}.  If she would be seen for the rash, they would diagnose her as allergic to the antibiotic, to be safe, which could lead to problems in the future.  She will have a re-check for her ears in four weeks {still don’t understand that logic if she is only going to be on antibiotics for 10 days, but I guess I don’t’ get a say since I didn’t go to medical school}.  If not clear at that appointment, we will be referred to an ENT to explore tubes.
Thanks to cousin Madie for helping us practice our walking
Not sure what this dance move was?
Hey, look at that!
Kherington is officially a walker.  For some reason about a week before turning 15 months old she decided that it was the right time and took off.  She is still somewhat unsteady, and falls down, but overall does a great job.  At night, when she is tired we have to remind her when she falls down, to “stand up” and continue walking.  I still do take a double take sometimes when I catch her walking out of the corner of my eye.  She seems too little to be cruising around.  Can we just go back to her laying on the Boppy lounger?
We are getting really good feeding ourself with a spoon
Time for my first popsicle
Fruit snack
Gotta have some snacks before swimming
Still love our veggies!
Kherington continues to be such a great little {maybe I should say big} eater.  I continue to be amazed at where such a tiny little thing can pack away so much food, and as often as she eats.  It seems like she is constantly hungry.  But with that said she does a great job if you ask her, telling you she wants to eat.
Speaking of sign language we continue with eat, more {while signing she’ll say “mor-mor”}, all done, and please {not just related to food}.  We continue to work on signing for thank you, but haven’t quite picked that one up.  I’ve told several people during the last few weeks, that I was skeptical of the whole baby sign language idea, but after seeing her use it so effectively, and eliminating hearing “uh” a few extra times a day, I’m really glad our smart little girl has picked up on it and is using it!
Reading with Nana

Kherington loves to "read" to us

"Open your mouth and catch K"
Writing a letter
Wearing Mama's shoes
Daddy trying to teach us to be a cheerleader flyer
Kherington loves to mimic.  We continue to have more and more fun every day.  Grandma and Pops kept Kherington during June for the day cause Mama had to present to the Dairy Leadership Team in Louisville, KY and Daddy was at a work meeting {which sounded like it involved more fishing and beer than work, but you gotta have some fun} in Tennessee.  Grandma made a comment about how much fun she was that day because she mimicked everything.  That night, K and I had dinner with Grandma, Pops, Aunt Jessica, and Uncle Derek.  Uncle Derek decided it would be fun to teach K how to open her mouth and toss goldfish in.  K of course found this hilarious.  Uncle Derek also taught how to “eat like a pig” by putting her head down to the table and not use her hands or utensils to pick up goldfish.  Grandma reminded Uncle Derek that someday paybacks will ensue.

This is how I'm supposed to sit, right?

This is so much fun!
Kherington still is learning by testing her limits.  She is beginning to learn what is acceptable and not.  Not that she always acts accordingly, but we are learning!
Who me? {I envision getting this look a lot during the teenage years}
Kherington is still working on her rap sheet at school.  Although, most weeks it evens out with the number of times she bites another child with the number of times she is bit, but still.  Mama and Daddy do not like {as well as Goddard} that that is how she expresses her frustration.  Our hope that when she started walking this would end, did not come to fruition.  She truly is such a sweet little girl with giving kisses {still open mouth} and hugs in the morning.  But she just gets mad and that is how she expresses it.  I keep being told by several people, that it is a phase, and I only hope that is true.

We love floating on our belly
First time to the community pool
So much fun, but not sure this was sanitary
We started swim lessons this month at the YMCA in Fishers.  Jared and I have paid memberships through my work {as a way for them to keep our insurances rates low, I’m sure} but signed K up.  We are participating in a 3 week, 6 lesson swim class for 6-18 month olds.  Kherington does great in the water and doesn’t mind being dunked under even.  She loves floating on her belly and chasing a ball.  We still need to get a little more comfortable with floating on our back.  I was really hoping that we would learn if she fell into a body of water, what to do {aka float on her back, etc} but that is not part of the curriculum.  We may cancel her membership at the Y and check out another swim center, where our friends Ben and Audrey take sweet little Faith for her swim lessons.
Yea for me!
And this is why Mama's door won't stay clean!
Such cuties
Kherington is wearing mostly 12-18 month clothes.  Although she still has plenty of room to grow.  She is in size 3 diapers during the day and 4’s at night in the Baby Drys.  And she is wearing anywhere from a size 2 swim shoe to a size 4 sandal and tennis shoe, but has plenty of room in them, but they didn’t have half sizes.
Cheesin'
Kherington has her four front teeth on top and bottom in addition we now have all four of our first set of molars for a total of 12 teeth.  But I wouldn’t be surprised if we gain some canines this next month!
How can you say no to this face?
Sleepy girl
Unfortunately, we are still doing a bottle before bed and in the mornings.  A lot of this, I will admit is convenience for Mama and Daddy.  She is SO easy to put to bed with the bottle, and I hate to break that routine and have to fight it.  I am vowing this next month to do so.  We just need to create a whole new bed time routine that does not include a bottle.  And in the mornings we get her changed and dressed, give her her bottle and she lays on the Boppy in the Master bedroom while Mama is getting ready and Daddy is doing whatever he does that particular morning {getting ready, leaving the house, paying bills, working, etc}.
This looks like it would be fun to play with
Whatcha got there K?  How about sharing with me?
Berlin and K are ever increasingly becoming best friends and Memphis better watch out with this curious little girl on the move!  It absolutely melts my heart to see my “babies” getting along so well.  Their relationship is so much more than I could have ever expected.  Berlin has her issues, which we are all aware of, but with Kherington she is so gentle {for the most part} and understanding.  And she still loves when K is in that chair that inevitably yields food for her.  And Memphis is still standoffish, but Kherington is very curious about that thing called “cat” and I’m sure it won’t be long before she grabs his tail and hissing and growling ensue.

First time off lead in 3 years - what's down there?
Checkin it all out!
I think she had fun - notice the mud caked on her nose
We have a complete patio and fence!  It was a process that seemed to take forever and left us with some unexpected surprises {patio guys buried 3 irrigation heads without asking and fence company busted two irrigation pipes and ripped out several feet of irrigation cord}.  Luckily, Jared is incredibly handy and was able to fix it.  Although, it took him longer than he was hoping, he did a great job.  And Berlin LOVES being able to be off-lead in the backyard.  The first night, we had to drag her back inside.  This is the first time in 3 years {since I moved from South River Road in Grad School} she has been able to run free!  It will be so nice for those times we are running late in the mornings, or if one of us is out of town that you don’t have to bundle K up for a walk in the mornings, or when it is pouring down rain and you don’t want to get wet during a walk!

Happy Father's Day Pappaw!
A huge thank you to my parents for coming up two weekends in a row to help us plant and mulch.  We couldn't have done it without you.  We got to celebrate with Pops a day early for Fathers Day as they headed home, I think to rest after we worked them so hard.  We also celebrated Father's Day with Great Grandpa Fred and Pappaw Johnny.
First time edging the lawn
He's such a proud papa when it comes to the lawn!
