14 months here and gone

14 months with Mr. Bear
And our first Catholic Bible :)
Oh sweet baby girl, another month has passed us by.  Will time please slow down?  Mama loves seeing you grow and learn, but misses you being a tiny little baby.
Too cool for school
This month you have grown in what seems like leaps and bounds.  You weigh 20 lbs 4.5 oz and are 30.5 inches tall.  You continue to be an inquisitive little thing, always looking underneath and behind things.  Maybe you're going to be an engineer when you grow up?
I know if I push this button it shines light on my ceiling
And this is what makes my unicorn projector work
Kherington is wearing a variety of size of clothes, depending on brand.  She has been sporting anything from a 6-9 month top, 6-12 month dress, to 18 month pants.  I'd say a majority of what she is wearing is 9-12 months with some 12-18 months for warmer weather days.  She is still able to wear her size 2 Sperry's {although they are getting small} and her size 3 StrideRites.  We did order a couple of new pairs of shoes for her to move into for summer!
Look at all those shoes that are too big!
Kherington is officially in the "big kids" room.  She moved from the Cuddly Coupes to the Toddling Trains.  The transition has been going well.  Minus the biting {see below}.  She seems to be adjusting to the one nap schedule and we get great reports of naps and eating!  We miss Ms. Leslie, Traci, and Rachelle, but like Ms. Naomi and Ms. Katie.  I'm sure a year from now I'll be saying how much we miss them.  The last day of being in the baby's room, I was a mess.  I cried most of the way to school, but as I was pulling in I told myself to get it together.  But then when I was inside, Mara's mom, Jill came in and she was a mess too.  Then it was a big crying fest with Jill, Ms. Leslie {who is pregnant in her defense} and myself.  We still stop and wave to Ms. Leslie in the morning.

We've been hearing, "She looks like Mama" more often this past month.  Finally!  Proof {if my stomach were not enough} that I birthed this child.  Although I still say she looks like her Daddy.  She still has his big head and his crazy cow-lick hair!  We continue to gain more curls in the back, but it is still straight on top.  Who knows what it will end up being.  I just hope whatever it is, it is controllable.

Kherington spent a week with Grandma and Pops while Mama was in Virginia working on a photo shoot for the Rumensin message refresh and Daddy was hard at work making the money and delivering seed.  I think they all had a great week.  I'm sure I got the report of all the good and not so much the bad, but that is okay I suppose.  She learned lots of things like shaking hands with Grandma during "Come out all you club friends" {a song that my Grandma Ginny used to sing}, when asked how old Kherington is, she shows you one finger {her index finger, although I'm sure someday she'll show us a different one finger}, and how to stretch.  While in southern Indiana, she went to Grandma's work, the school where I went, she visited our old neighbors, Ed & Nancy, and spent an afternoon with Aunt Jessica.

Kherington loves giving hugs and kisses.  Although, before she gets too much older, we are going to have to work on a little less tongue when we give kisses.  We don't want anyone getting the wrong idea, especially all those cute little boys at school!  She even loves giving dogs open mouth kisses, which we witnessed at Mamaw and Papaw's house on Mother's Day.  Kherington was having fun giving Mamaw and Papaw kisses when Hank and Roscoe walked by and she leaned into them with a big open mouth and received some tongue back!  We've also seen her doing this with Berlin.  Germs are good for one's immune system right? :)  She also has picked up an adorable scrunchy nose smile that she busts out every once in awhile, just to remind you she is absolutely adorable.
I love you Daddy
Mama got a little more tongue
With the nice comes the naughty.  We have been having a mean streak.  Kherington apparently likes to bite and pinch her friends and family.  This has resulted in her being spanked {obviously not hard} or we bite/pinch back.  She always pouts out that sweet little bottom lip, gets crocodile tears and looks at you like, "why did you just do that?"  This past week has been a particularly tough week at school with biting.  She has bit someone several days and got bit on her arm, leaving an obvious mouth bruise on her forearm.  All part of teething, growing up, and daycare I suppose.

She has been working on some new teeth, and has broken through with 3 molars this past month.  Two on top and one on the bottom {Kherington's} left.  I never paid attention I suppose until she started getting her molars, that each molar is like getting four teeth at once, since the four points break through separately   No wonder she is biting, trying to get some relief for those poor little gums.  But seriously, this kid has got to stop the biting, or we are going to get kicked out of school!
I'm too cute to get kicked out
Speaking of that bottom left molar, the last point broke through we she slipped in the tub at Grandma and Pops this past weekend.  Grandma had just gotten finished telling K that she needed to sit down when *boom.*  That was when the big ol' tears started and blood started flowing.  Luckily it appeared, it was just from her tooth breaking through.  But boy was that scary!  Especially with the trauma my teeth faced with a bike wreck when I was little, leading to two front teeth root canals!  No harm though when all was said and done, just a few tear streaks on our cheek and a bruise on the bottom of our chin.  We also had another boo boo when Kherington lost her balance in front of a bookcase that holds some toys in the loft and we ended up with a line scrape and goose-egged bruise.  Timing would have it that we had school pictures the next day.  Oh well, I'm sure with this little dare devil it won't be the only picture with a bump, scrape, or bruise in it.  We also experienced another good bruise this month, when we decided to get stuck under a kitchen cabinet door.  Yes, you heard me right.  Our little monkey was playing in "her" cabinet in the kitchen while I was sweeping the floor.  Then all of a sudden I heard her screaming and I looked over and she had her one leg underneath of her, her other out to the side, she was bent over so her belly was on the ground and she was wedged under the cabinet door.  My goodness did I have a tough time un-wedging her, while she and I were both mildly freaking out!  And unfortunately, the process left a decent bruise on the small of her back.
The infamous cabinet door
Kherington continues to mimic.  This is really cute, but a good reminder that we need to watch what we say, how we act, and what we do in front of our little copycat.  This is very helpful when we try and teach her things though.  She loves to play peek-a-boo, try to do the hand motions for Itsy Bitsy spider, and pat-a-cake.
I've seen Mom and Dad do this, so I can too.  Come on Berlin, let's go!
Peek-a-boo!
We continue to work on learning new words both verbally and with sign language.  She is catching on to both, although we still hear "uh, uh" a lot.  I'm sure though I'll miss those little grunts and "uh's" someday when she is talking a mile a minute.  She is trying to say "tree" which stemmed from the two pictures we have hanging in the half bath.  Often times it sounds like she says "ta da" after she does something and sometimes adds clapping for herself.  The strangest thing she has learned to to communicate with aliens.  She is fluent in Martian, just in case Marvin the Martian comes to visit.  Very odd.  But she has learned to sign "please" and has combined it with more to say more please!
We have our own sense of style .... jammies and a princess tiara.
This is what I'm supposed to do with this box, right Mama?
Kherington has a strong desire to climb on anything and everything she can.  Fortunately for us, she is still a peanut and is not tall enough to get on a lot of furniture .... yet.
This picture makes me cringe.
We love to stand in this chair.
Remember the part about spanking .... insert here.
Always climbing in cabinets too!
Kherington continues to make the most beautiful sound in the world .... belly laughing.  Seriously, someone needs to bottle that sound.  It could be sold for a lot of money!  She loves when you chase her or when someone helps her to chase you.  She also loves making Berlin run like a banshee through the house.  She loves twirling and spinning and thinks it's really funny when you are over dramatic about being dizzy!
Too funny.  Still embracing the love of vegetables!
Kherington continues to be a really good eater.  A couple of times last week she devoured an entire two egg, bacon and cheese omelet, by herself.  I think she has a hollow leg!  She clearly lets you know what she does and doesn't want though.  She'll turn her head to the side opposite of you, if you hold something up for her to eat, and she doesn't want it.  She only has a sippy cup at school, but are still doing a bottle of whole milk in the morning and at night.  This has not been as easy of a transition as we had hoped for.  She throws a tantrum if you try and give her a sippy cup.  Hoepfully, we'll have better news on this front at 15 months.  Mama and Daddy are going to be getting creative!
Such a big girl
I like this whole drinking from a bottle thing too!
Although, I may backwash {just a little} and spill it all down the front of me.
We have determined that Kherington may start walking as her primary mode of action by the time she goes to Kindergarten.  She clearly can do it, if she wants to, but it has to be on her own terms.  When she does, it resembles a zombie, with both arms straight out in front for balance.  Too funny! I think a lot of it is that she knows she can get somewhere much faster by crawling, so why would she walk, right?  In reality I'm by no means rushing her, just documenting her development!

She is still doing great going backwards down the stairs and has applied this to getting down off of furniture.  I am trying to remind myself she still needs observation, because I do not want to take this for granted and end up with an accident.
Reverse, reverse

And down we go!
We attended cousin Ty's wedding last weekend.  We hope that Ty and Cassie have a wonderful life together celebrating love and many joys.  We are also excited that come September we will have another girl join our family, as Ty and Cassie welcome their little bundle of joy.  Kherington had a great time, despite it being very hot and sticky with little air movement.  She spent a lot of time with cousin Seth's fiance', Tonya, as she took her around and let her have lemonade and tea to drink.  Not a big deal, but this was a first for Kherington, as we've shied away from sugary liquids.

Clearly, Aunt Jessica did not
Daddy was yet again Kherington's hero and put together her tricycle from her birthday.  Still have some growing to do, but it is ready to go for when that day comes!
Both appear that it is August ... no it's only May!
Not so sure yet
She quickly figured out the bell.
See what I mean about needing to grow!
Berlin and K continue to grow in their friendship.  It absolutely melts my heart.  I'm so proud of both of them.  They've come a long way, especially in the last three months.  Kherington for the most part is pretty gentle, mostly just patting her, instead of pulling or pinching.  We have started having to tranquilize Berlin during thunderstorms, because we learned her Xanax was not working and she was dribbling urine from being so scared.  She has unfortunately chewed two cats doors out of the basement door, trying to get downstairs, while we've been at work.  And extremely unfortunately, she tore up the basement door in the process the last time.  Needless to say, Daddy was NOT happy!  Memphis has also been a problem child.  He continues to have bladder issues.  We are on the last few things to try before having to explore alternative housing/euthanasia options.  Jared and I both have agreed to try everything we can to not have to resort to this.  But at the end of the day, he is not even five yet.  We have a long road ahead of us for this.  And our house is barely three months old.  We are not willing to let him destroy it, for behavior issues. This breaks my heart to think about this, as I did save his life at two days old.  But we will cross that bridge if we have to.
Memphis and his normal look .... He never looks happy!
Another big occurrence happened on the house front .... we have grass!!  Last week they finally laid our sod.  We have been watering it like crazy and I'm sure we'll pay for it when we get our water bill.  Next month when I update that we are on a rice and beans diet, you'll know why. :) But the grass looks great.  We can't wait to get it established so we can let LuLu outside on it.  Hopefully next month I'll be able to update on the back of the house, as they are set to start on our patio/landscaping this week and we are set to have our fence installed on June 17th!
We have sod!!
And then we have some dirt with hydroseed on top.
Lots of work yet to do....stay tuned!
