Yesterday we entered into a new realm of Kherington .... solid foods. Well, there was some solid (rice cereal) in with a lot of milk. So it was just thicker liquid. But its a work in process.

Kherington did really well. She ate about 10 bites of cereal before deciding enough was enough, and consistently turned her head away. I told Jared I was pleasantly surprised at how well she did. He said, "I'm not. Remember how well she did with taking a bottle." True story. Such a big girl! It was quite the event with lots of anticipation up to it, and then it was so smooth, like she'd been doing it every day since she was born.

We also tested out the Baby Bullet. I am going to try and make Kherington's baby food. (I did not make the cereal, as it is Iron fortified from the store.) Everyone seems to ask one question in regards to this, "Why?" The answer is that it is really simple for me, why not? I'm not a big health freak, but if I can avoid giving her preservatives and fillers, why not?
Jared had bought some peaches in New Jersey this week while I was away at my conference. They are delicious, by the way! But there were a lot of them so I figured why not make some for Kherington to enjoy, eventually. Talk about easy! I just had to peel the peaches, cut them up, steam them, and then put them in the Baby Bullet for about a minute and then pour them in the tray to freeze.
I'm sure it will get old, but I had a lot of fun doing it. I am going to work on some peas, avocado, sweet potato, yellow squash, banana, pear, apple, and zucchini, which is recommended first (between 4 and 6 months) as they are low risk for allergic reactions. Although, just like with everything baby related, everyone has an opinion and they are all different.

I think we may be starting to teeth as well. Yesterday, Kherington in general was not her happy go-lucky self. She was quite fussy, which is unusual for our little sweet pea. She also did not want to nurse a couple of times, which broke my heart. I was beginning to think she forgot about me while I was gone, which was silly since she did just fine on Thursday and Friday with nursing. But still, I was upset, and we resorted to giving her a bottle instead of listening to her scream. Overall, she ate less and slept a lot with lots of chewing on things, including her new Sophie the Giraffe (thanks Aunt Sarah, Uncle Brad, and Madie!) Hopefully if it is the teething thing, that little tooth will pop out soon and our little happy girl will come back too!
