O.M.G! Where did my baby go? {23 months}
I have been worried about Ellie's speech and vocabulary for awhile now. I know they say the second kid is slower to talk as they have big sis to talk for them. In addition she did have
13 ear infections in a little over a year, which could not have helped anything. But this month, the little parrot is talking up a storm. She literally repeats {or at least tries to} everything that K says. Most of the time this is a good thing, but phrases like "stop it" drive me crazy! Ellie's favorite words this month have included "no," "away," "umm" {which is the cutest}, and "not nice." She also loves "Wyatt" from school. He is the only person that she talks about!

There is no denying these two are best friends
|
The infamous and adorable Wyatt

I wouldn't be surprised if this is my future son-in-law
Ellie also wins the award of first child for calling Poison Control on. Jared was out at the farm helping his dad with planting one Sunday. The girls and I hopped in the shower. We finished up and I was doing "rock a bye baby" with Ellie as I normally do after baths and she began tooting so I hurried and got her diaper on her, got her lotioned up and dressed. Then I moved on to getting K's lotion on and helping her dress. Mid-dressing Ellie starts gagging and coughing. I look up to see her eating K's lotion out of the pump bottle, which I believe I locked. I immediately grabbed her tongue with the towel and cleaned off the lotion that was still on her tongue. I had already programmed Poison Control in my phone, so I gave them a call. Luckily, baby lotion is non-toxic but only poses a choking hazard. They told me to give her a drink and she should be fine. Then lastly she documented our zip code and probably my phone number, street address, etc for CPS purposes :)

She's lucky she is cute
Ellie also received the baby Heimlich this month as well. We were out to dinner for Mexican Friday with our neighbors, Mr. Paul, Ms. Jen and Ms. Harper. Ellie was eating chips, salsa and cheese dip. She started choking, which is not abnormal for her. Unfortunately, this time it wouldn't clear. So I pulled her out of the highchair and started the baby Heimlich which then proceeded to cause her to spit up/vomit liquid. Unfortunately, so chokes so often, and always has, that I didn't even get nervous. The restaurant section around us all stopped and stared, asking if she was okay. I non-chalantly responded, "yea, she's fine." Afterwards when reflecting, I realized how terrible of a mom I must have seemed. Mr. Paul then made an observation that she didn't seem to choke on a piece, but rather liquid. I will be following up with her pediatrician at least at her 2 year old well visit if not sooner, as there seems to have always been an issue with her choking.
