Look at my cute "ruffle butt" pants!
Kherington is two months old today. She weighs 10 lbs, 6 oz and is 22 1/2 in long! She is growing like a weed and changing so much each and every day! How bittersweet it is. I love seeing her grow and develop, but I miss her being so little. I miss her being so dependent on me, although it's nice that she is starting to be more independent. I wish she could stay little forever, but am looking forward to her growing up! Contradictory I know, but I'm sure every mother can relate.

Goodness, how can you not love that face?
This past week has been a big week for us. Kherington obviously started daycare. She also slept in her crib starting Tuesday, on her 8 weeks old birthday. Not sure I got more or less sleep. When she slept in our room, she was so noisy. She's mostly a little grunter. It's amazing all the sounds she made. We have the Angelcare monitor that senses movement from a pad that is placed under her mattress. To signify it is sensing movement there is a pendulum that moves back and forth. I think I watched the monitor half the night, hence why I didn't get much sleep.
She did decide to scare us a couple of nights. Wednesday night her alarm went off, meaning no movement or breath had been detected for 20 seconds! Talk about scaring you to death. I came straight out of bed, scrambled down the hall, threw the door open to find little Miss had wiggled all the way up to the very top corner of her crib. I guess it just couldn't pick her up there. What a relief to find her breathing, sleeping peacefully though. Then Friday night/Saturday morning her alarm went off again, so Jared and I went tearing down the hall. She must have just been in a really deep sleep, because once I shook her a little bit she moved and was breathing just fine. But thank goodness for that alarm. In my opinion that monitor is worth it's weight in gold! SIDS has been one of my biggest fears from the get go. Such a scary reality that SIDS exists!!

Aunt Angela and Kherington talking up a storm!
Friday night she slept a whole 8 hours in between feedings! Saturday she got to meet her Great Aunt Angela, whom she loved watching, talking to, and smiling at. And then today she turned 2 months old!
Kherington would like to tell everyone the things that have changed in the last month:
I've started smiling, and not just when I'm passing gas. Mama has really enjoyed those smiles, especially at the 2:30 am feedings. She didn't like my blank, and sometimes cross-eyed stares. I'm too quick for Mom and Dad to get a picture of my smiles though. You'll just have to see me in person for me to prove that I can!
I've also started trying to work on my speech. I love when people talk to me. I don't really mind what they tell me. I just like to know they are there and share with me all kinds of things, from books or magazines, how to make dinner, or how to fix Mama's hair or do her makeup. I make all kinds of noises. I try and talk to my toys, but they don't talk back. I try really hard to imitate Mom or Dad when they talk to me. I keep practicing forming my little mouth into different shapes and getting my tongue a going. Soon enough I'll be able to babble and carry on a conversation. Since I got my Mama and Daddy's genes, I don't think they'll be able to get me to be quiet. Vivian, or Viv as they call her at school, is also helping me learn how to squeal, as she is such a happy girl, and squeals all the time.
I've went from the sling to sitting in my tub, and actually don't scream the entire bath. My little froggy helps keep me warm! I now only scream when Mama takes me out to dry off and get lotioned up.

There's hope after all not to be the smelly kid!
I do a great job sitting up with help and also with holding my head and upper back up! I'm gaining neck strength everyday!
|
Still not the biggest fan of tummy time, but it's helping me to grow stronger!

Look how much has changed!
I now really enjoy sitting in my bouncy seat for long periods of time. I also turn it back on, mostly accidently, but in a few more days or weeks I'll have it figured out. I also enjoy laying on my activity mat and watching without Mom or Dad shaking the toys. I entertain myself mostly. I am also starting to reach for the toys hanging down.

As long as the music plays, I love to look around and wiggle!

I also have started having a lot less wet and dirty diapers! Mom will spare the readers of the pictures on this one ;) Mom and Dad have learned through experience that a diaper only has so much absorptive capacity. I had a couple of blowouts to prove it to them!! Unfortunately, this led to me getting a bath each time and also Mom having some extra laundry.
I'm also getting more hair on top of my head. I look less like a bald old man. Mom doesn't always makes me wear headbands when we go out now. Daddy thinks my hair has a red tint to it. Which Mama thinks is funny, as she joked before I was born that I was going to be a red head. My eyebrows still look like they're blonde, so I guess we'll see.

Here you can see my new hairs!
I'm less dependent on my pacifer these days. I don't always have to have it when I go to sleep or while I sleep. This has helped me in the transition to sleeping like a big girl in my crib as well. Just this past weekend or so, I've discovered that I really like my hand and/or fingers though.

Mama caught me ... again!
Berlin is slowly but surely getting more used to me. She sure is protective of me though. One day this week on our evening walk, neighbor George peeked in my stroller to see how big I'd gotten, and boy did Lu Lu get upset. It's nice to have such a good big sister. I do believe she's starting to like me, at least a little bit. She has started giving me kisses. She usually just kisses my hand, but today added in a kiss in the eye as a bonus. I'm sure in a few months when I'm sitting in my high chair, I'll reward her by sharing some of my food. Mama tells me that she'll love me for sure then. But once I start moving I'll be sure to give her some "love pats" or "pulls" to reciprocate my love for her as well. Hopefully she's quick enough to get away!!
